Self Portrait

I stumbled upon Salvador Dali's self portrait the other day. I was really taken back by it for a while. It's not his best piece for its technique, color or whatever. I was caught trying to get inside his mind and imagining what the hell he was thinking. It is my opinion, that self portraits are the most underrated pieces an artist can create. It is real insight into the mind of the artist because he/she is faced with how they see themselves. To look at a model, landscape, etc. is not as intimidating as facing what you see in the mirror.

In Dali's portrait, the piece is blurred except for the quintessential "Dali" eye. What is he trying to tell us?
